Operation Mincemeat has added 36 more weeks to its UK and Ireland tour, carrying it through 2027 and into Belfast, Dublin and nine further cities. Tickets go on general sale on 25 September.
The touring production of Operation Mincemeat has been extended by 36 weeks, taking it deep into 2027 and roughly trebling the length of a tour that was only meant to run 20.
The first leg finishes on 28 November after 304 performances, having sold close to 290,000 tickets. The second picks up in February and adds Belfast and Dublin to the itinerary, along with Dartford, Blackpool and Leicester, and a two-week return to The Lowry in Salford.
Where it goes in 2027
Confirmed dates so far include Milton Keynes Theatre on 2 March, Sunderland Empire from 6-10 April, Theatre Royal Brighton from 27 April - 1 May, New Theatre Oxford from 13-17 July, Aylesbury Waterside Theatre from 20-24 July, The Alexandra in Birmingham from 24-28 August, Woking from 21-25 September, Grand Opera House York from 28 September - 2 October and Liverpool Empire from 5-9 October.
General booking opens at 10am on Friday 25 September.
Three companies at once
The extension means the show will be running in three places simultaneously for most of next year. The West End production at the Fortune Theatre has extended into a fifth year, the Broadway company at the Golden Theatre continues into a third, and the tour now stretches to autumn 2027 - with further legs announced for North America, Australia and China.
It remains a striking trajectory for a show that started at the 77-seat New Diorama Theatre in 2019. Written by SpitLip - David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson and Zoë Roberts - and directed by Robert Hastie, it tells the true story of the wartime deception that floated a corpse carrying false invasion plans towards occupied Europe. It has won the Olivier for Best New Musical and a Tony for Jak Malone, who won the Olivier in the same category first.
And a tenth extension on Broadway
The same day brought news from New York, where the Broadway production has extended for a tenth time. Four further weeks carry it to Sunday 14 March 2027 and into a third year at the Golden Theatre - a run originally booked for sixteen weeks.
The Broadway company is led by Julia Knitel as Ewen Montagu, Jeff Kready as Hester Leggatt, Brandon Contreras as Charles Cholmondeley, Jessi Kirtley as Jean Leslie and Amanda Jill Robinson as Johnny Bevan, each of them playing several other parts besides.
American booking opens the same week as the British: a 24-hour fan presale on Thursday 24 September, then general sale on Friday 25 September. The producers report that more than 5,000 people have bought tickets to more than one Broadway performance, and that 205 of them have been ten times or more.
Operation Mincemeat is booking at the Fortune Theatre and on tour across the UK and Ireland.
