SCHOOL OF ROCK THE MUSICAL smashes records in the West End and on Broadway

School of Rock Production Photo Andrew Lloyd Webber’s School of Rock - The Musical last week smashed box office records on both sides of the Atlantic. In the West End the production has broken the box office record at the 1000 seat New London Theatre (previously held by War Horse) and on Broadway, where the show is now in its second year, the production smashed its own house record at the Winter Garden Theatre. Both productions are set to break their own records again later this week.

Arlene Phillips to make Panto Debut at Wimbledon

Dick Whittington First Family Entertainment are delighted to announce that renowned choreographer Arlene Phillips will be making her pantomime debut as Fairy Bowbells in New Wimbledon Theatre’s Christmas Pantomime, Dick Whittington, from Friday 9 December 2016 to Sunday 15 January 2017, with a press night on Tuesday 13 December.

Michael Morpurgo’s RUNNING WILD to tour the UK

Running Wild Children’s Touring Partnership is delighted to announce, on Elephant Appreciation Day (22 September), the first UK Tour of Running Wild by Michael Morpurgo in an adaptation by Samuel Adamson, beginning at Chichester Festival Theatre on 10 February 2017. Michael Morpurgo’s novel, based on a true story, is brought to life in this award-winning production, which has been described by critics as ‘inspiring’, ‘evocative, ‘imaginative’ and ‘life-affirming’. Originally produced by Regent’s Park Theatre and Chichester Festival Theatre, this epic production, complete with spectacular life-size puppets, tells an emotional and moving story of love, loss and loyalty and of living for the moment.

20th Anniversary Production of RENT

Rent The Musical Robert Mackintosh and Idili Theatricals Limited, in association with Theatr Clwyd and Wales Millennium Centre, are presenting the 20th Anniversary production of Jonathan Larson’s ground-breaking Pulitzer Prize- and Tony Award-winning musical RENT. After opening at Theatr Clwyd for a limited season from 21 October to 12 November 2016, RENT will go on a three-week tour, prior to a Christmas Season at St. James Theatre, London from 8 December 2016 to 28 January 2017, with a national press night on Tuesday 13 December 2016. 2017 tour dates are to be announced. The new production will be directed by Bruce Guthrie.

Close to You - Bacharach Reimagined extends West End run

Close to You - Bacharach Reimagined The West End transfer of Close To You – Bacharach Reimagined has announced that it is extending its run at the Criterion Theatre through to Valentines Day, the 14 February 2016.

The show premiered London’s Menier Chocolate Factory this summer and went on to receive unanimous critical and public praise. Following this success, the production transferred to the Criterion Theatre in October where it broke the theatres box office record for the biggest advance sales, such was the demand for tickets.
