The first production photographs of the second-year company of The Hunger Games: On Stage are out, with Elizabeth Anderson now leading as Katniss Everdeen at Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre.
The pictures, taken by Johan Persson, are the first look from the stage at the company that took over The Hunger Games: On Stage as it entered its second year at Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre. The new line-up was announced in September and was first seen in the rehearsal room in October; these images show it in performance for the first time.
The recasting has come with changes to the production itself. For year two the creative team has reworked elements of the costume, video and lighting designs, and has refined parts of the script and the staging.
Anderson’s Katniss is joined by Vinnie Copeland as Peeta Mellark, Nathan Stokes as Gale Hawthorne, Daisy Statham as Prim, Alix Dunmore as Mrs. Everdeen, Isabel Della-Porta as Effie Trinket and Theo Ogundipe as Cinna. Two names from British soap complete the principal line-up: Neil McDermott, known from EastEnders, plays Haymitch Abernathy, and Daniel Brocklebank of Coronation Street is Caesar Flickerman.
Five members of the first-year company stay on: Aiya Agustin as Rue, Geo Bailey as Tippet, Alexandra Barredo as Fossa, and offstage swings Jessica Daugirda and Luca Moscardini. New to the company are Jason Battersby (Cato), Myla Carmen (Clove), Archie Durrant (Stele), Montel Morrison (Thresh), Jhanaica van Mook (Glimmer), Lewis Renninson (Drove), Jake Scott Newton (Marvel) and Hamish Skeoch (Fila), along with onstage swings Joseph Lukehurst and Emma Shannon and offstage swings Jesse Chidera, Elliot Copeland, Maria Goodman, Florence Russell and Rhodri Watkins. Xanthe Gibson is an offstage swing and the alternate Katniss.
Conor McPherson adapted the stage version from the first of Suzanne Collins’ novels and the first film in the Lionsgate franchise, and Matthew Dunster directs. The production has a house of its own: Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre is a 1,200-seat theatre in the round, purpose-built for this show.
The Hunger Games: On Stage is booking at Troubadour Canary Wharf Theatre until Sunday 14 February 2027.
