Keith Allen in a new play about Benny Hill, Charles Court Opera's The Mikado and a circus-theatre piece about two trans pioneers are among the productions booking at Wilton's Music Hall between January and April 2027.
The East London music hall has put its programme for the first four months of 2027 on sale, and theatre runs through it from the second week of January to the last night of April. It is a mixed bill in the house tradition: operetta and Edwardian musical comedy sit alongside new plays, a one-man epic poem, a Morecambe and Wise tribute and an evening in the company of Joyce Grenfell.
The theatre and music-theatre strand, in date order:
- 14-15 January: The Arcadians, Opera della Luna's semi-staged reading of the Edwardian musical comedy, with an 11-piece orchestra
- 19 January: Paradise Lost, William Spaulding's one-man performance of Milton's poem, directed by Keith Warner
- 25-27 January: Wolf Country, a new comedy by Elizabeth Godber for The John Godber Company, directed by Jane Thornton
- 28-30 January: James Joyce's The Dead, The Fourth Choir's narrated and sung presentation, back for a third year
- 8-9 February: Sense and Sensibility, a multi-rolling Austen adaptation with music
- 16-20 February: Eric and Ern, with Ian Ashpitel and Jonty Stephens, marking the Morecambe and Wise centenary
- 16-20 March: The Mikado, Charles Court Opera's production, directed by John Savournin
- 22-23 March: The Actress, a new drama about the first women to act on the English stage
- 6-17 April: Not The Benny Hill Show, Jonathan Maitland's play, with Keith Allen as ITV's Controller of Comedy
- 20-24 April: The Law of Mayhem, Proteus's production of Tabby Lamb's play about Roberta Cowell and Michael Dillon
- 26 April: Don't You Forget About Me, David Shopland's solo show for Fake Escape
- 30 April: Cocktails with Joyce Grenfell, written and performed by Nicola Keen and Malcolm McKee
The longest stays belong to the two new plays at the end of the season. Not The Benny Hill Show takes the hall for almost a fortnight in April, and The Law of Mayhem follows it for a week. Several of the companies are returning visitors: Opera della Luna presented this version of The Arcadians at Wilton's in 2018, and The Fourth Choir's The Dead returns for a third year in a row.
Every production listed here is booking now at Wilton's Music Hall, where full-price tickets for the season range from £8.50 to £34.
