Opera della Luna returns to Wilton's with its semi-staged The Arcadians

Key art for Opera della Luna's The Arcadians Opera della Luna brings its semi-staged reading of The Arcadians, the Edwardian musical comedy by Lionel Monckton and Howard Talbot, back to Wilton's Music Hall on Thursday 14 and Friday 15 January 2027.

It is the second time the company has given this version at Wilton's; the first, in 2018, played to a full house and a long ovation. The format is a rehearsed reading with an 11-piece orchestra: the singers are in costume and carry their scores with them on stage.

The piece is billed as the most successful Edwardian musical comedy of them all, and the 2018 performances were well received. Opera Magazine wrote that "the dialogue crackled" despite the scores in hand, and The Stage called the music "an absolute winner".

Both performances start at 7pm and run 2 hours 25 minutes, including an interval. Full-price tickets cost £17 to £32, and concessions of £14.50 to £29.50 are available to under-30s and job seekers only. Booking is open at Wilton's Music Hall.

The two nights open Wilton's spring 2027 season.
