David Shopland brings his solo show Don't You Forget About Me to Wilton's

David Shopland in Don't You Forget About Me at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Photo by Alex Brenner David Shopland plays Wilton's Music Hall for one night with Don't You Forget About Me, his one-man show about the student nobody remembers, on Monday 26 April 2027.

A varsity T-shirt, arms thrown wide, a boombox waiting on the shelf. Alex Brenner's photographs from Edinburgh catch a man halfway through throwing a party for people who have not turned up yet.

The set-up starts in suburban Illinois in 1985. Five teenagers walk into Saturday-morning detention, and the show's point is that there was a sixth. Years later, in a pub function room in the UK, that forgotten student lays on a reunion buffet and waits for the others to walk in. The piece is billed as part homage to the John Hughes classic, part existential crisis, and it is about nostalgia and the stories we tell ourselves about mattering.

Shopland, a WhatsOnStage and multiple OffWestEnd Award nominee, returns to the stage after his 2023 show Raising Kane. Roann Hassani McCloskey directs for Fake Escape, the company behind Cul-de-Sac, The Boy and Saving Britney. The production arrives after a sell-out run at the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and tours the UK through 2026 and 2027.

The performance starts at 7pm and lasts 60 minutes, with no interval. Full-price tickets cost £11.50 to £26, with concessions from £9 to £23.50, booking now at Wilton's Music Hall.

It is one of the late-April dates in Wilton's spring 2027 season.
