Teri Hatcher takes over as Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada at the Dominion Theatre from 20 October 2026, becoming the third actress to run Runway in the West End after Vanessa Williams and Debbie Kurup.
Teri Hatcher takes over as Miranda Priestly in The Devil Wears Prada from Tuesday 20 October 2026, joining the company at the Dominion Theatre for a stint currently scheduled to end on Saturday 6 February 2027.
She is the third actress to run Runway in the West End. Vanessa Williams gives her final performance on 19 September, and Debbie Kurup plays the role between that exit and 17 October.
The Golden Globe winner is known worldwide for Desperate Housewives and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. She came to musical theatre later, making her debut as Sally Bowles in Sam Mendes' national tour of Cabaret, and more recently drew praise as Morticia Addams in The Addams Family.
"I've been fortunate enough to play some pretty formidable women throughout my career, but very few can compare to THE Miranda Priestly," said Hatcher. "I'm absolutely delighted to be joining The Devil Wears Prada in the West End. Miranda is intelligent, commanding, and has a glorious way of putting you in your place while being funny at the same time. Her dialogue is unforgettable, her confidence is contagious. The Devil Wears Prada opened in the West End in December 2024, following a run at Theatre Royal Plymouth from 6 July - 17 August 2024. It has since become the fastest-selling show in the Dominion's history, with more than 1.3 million tickets sold, and reaches its 800th performance on 23 September. Booking was extended last month to run until September 2027.
The score is by Elton John, with lyrics by Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick and a book by Kate Wetherhead. Jerry Mitchell provides new direction and choreography, with set design by Tim Hatley, costume design by Gregg Barnes, lighting by Bruno Poet, sound by Gareth Owen and casting by Jill Green CDG. The musical is based on Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel and the 2006 film, and is produced by Kevin McCollum, David Furnish and Jamie Wilson in co-production with Theatre Royal Plymouth.
Barnes' Runway wardrobe leans on Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Balmain alongside vintage and second-hand finds, and the British footwear label Terry de Havilland has supplied more than 80 pairs of shoes. Miranda and Andy Sachs get through 11 costume changes a performance between them, and the curtain call accounts for 680 grams of confetti a show - 5.4 kilograms a week.
The show's first original cast recording, which carries two previously unheard Elton John demos, is available to stream.
The Devil Wears Prada is booking at the Dominion Theatre until Saturday 25 September 2027, with tickets from £25. Performances run Monday to Saturday at 19:30, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 14:30.
