John Thomson now has his full company around him for A Christmas Carol at Lowry, Salford, where Matthew Warchus's production plays outside London for the first time from 11 December.
WhatsOnStage reports that the line-up around Thomson's Ebenezer Scrooge has now been confirmed. Christian Edwards plays Bob Cratchit opposite Emma Lucia as Mrs Cratchit, Laura Baldwin is Belle, Connor Wood plays Young Ebenezer and Joe Usher is Fred.
The ghosts are shared between Marilyn Cutts, as the Ghost of Christmas Past, and Kamilla Fernandes, who doubles the Ghost of Christmas Present with Mrs Fezziwig. Hadrian Delacey takes Father and Marley, Ben Redfern is Fezziwig, Hayley Canham plays Little Fan, Annell Odartey is Jess, Peter Dukes plays Nicholas and the Schoolmaster, and Seb Harwood plays Ferdy and George. Jamie Doncaster is the swing, and Rachel Moran is associate choreographer as well as offstage cover. Four young performers, Ronan Caldwell, Chloe Gay, Franklin Gimson and Kharia Thompson, will share Tiny Tim.
Thomson, familiar to television audiences from Cold Feet and The Fast Show, was announced as Scrooge in September. The Salford season runs from 11 December 2026 to 10 January 2027, and it is the first time the production has been seen in another UK city since Jack Thorne's adaptation opened at The Old Vic in 2017.
Warchus directs, with set and costumes by Rob Howell, music composed and arranged by Christopher Nightingale, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, sound by Simon Baker and movement by Lizzi Gee. Jamie Manton is associate director, and casting is by Grindrod Burton Casting.
In London the show returns to The Old Vic for a tenth consecutive Christmas, with Giles Terera as Scrooge: A Christmas Carol at The Old Vic plays from 10 November 2026 to 9 January 2027.
