Redcliffe, the musical Jordan Luke Gage wrote and stars in, is coming to the West End for 12 weeks only at the Criterion Theatre from 28 January 2027, with tickets going on sale on Thursday 5 November.
Redcliffe will run at the Criterion Theatre for 12 weeks only, from Thursday 28 January to 17 April 2027, with press night on Thursday 4 February 2027 at 7pm. Bill Kenwright Ltd and Paul Taylor-Mills are producing the transfer.
Jordan Luke Gage, who wrote the book, music and lyrics, reprises his performance as William Critchard. Further casting is still to be announced. Gage has originated lead roles in five West End shows, &Juliet among them, and has just played JD in Thelma & Louise at the Young Vic.
"I am beyond thrilled that Redcliffe is transferring to the West End, giving us the chance to share this story with even more people," Gage said. "Our run at Southwark Playhouse was incredibly special, and the response deeply moving. I’m excited to build on that momentum, challenge perspectives, open hearts and spark meaningful conversations. The Criterion Theatre is the perfect home for Redcliffe, allowing us to expand the world we’ve created while preserving the intimacy and sense of community at the heart of the show."
The musical is set in 18th-century England and takes its story from the real William Critchard and Richard Arnold in Redcliffe, Bristol: two men who fall in love in a world set on keeping them apart.
The transfer follows the first full production at Southwark Playhouse Borough earlier this year. The show was first presented at the Turbine Theatre during MTFestUK in 2024, then played eight sold-out workshop performances at The Other Palace. Gage won Best Composer, Lyricist or Book Writer for it at The Stage Debut Awards 2026. The Southwark Playhouse run drew strong notices, with The Guardian calling the show "charming, funny and devastating" and WhatsOnStage "a masterpiece of a musical".
Jenny Seagrove, chairperson of the Bill Kenwright Group, said the company had backed the show since its first outing at MTFest: "Even in those early stages, it was clear that Jordan had created something truly special, and it has been a joy to watch the show evolve over the past two and a half years." She added: "At a time when so many musicals are built around existing IP, what makes Redcliffe truly exciting is that Jordan has created an entirely original new musical."
The production reunites Bill Kenwright Ltd with Taylor-Mills, its co-producer on Heathers, and brings Gage back to the Criterion, where he was in the original West End company of Titanique.
Paul Foster directs, with choreography by Emma Woods, set and lighting design by Andrew Exeter and costume design by Martin Hanly. Katy Richardson is musical supervisor and Ben Tomalin associate musical supervisor and orchestrator, with additional orchestrations by Ben Ferguson. Matt Hockley is associate lighting designer and casting is by Will Burton.
Performances run Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with Thursday and Saturday matinees at 2.30pm. The show runs 2 hours 20 minutes including an interval and is recommended for ages 14+. Tickets for Redcliffe at the Criterion Theatre start at £19.50 and go on sale at noon on Thursday 5 November 2026.
