Four more names join Lolly Adefope in Oh, Mary! at the Trafalgar Theatre from 28 September 2026, completing the cast that takes over from Jinkx Monsoon and company.
The full cast joining Lolly Adefope in Oh, Mary! at the Trafalgar Theatre has been announced. From 28 September to 5 December 2026, Lucy Frederick plays Mary’s Chaperone, J.R. Ballantyne is Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, Vinnie Heaven is Mary’s Teacher and Syrus Lowe is Mary’s Husband.
Adefope, who makes her West End debut as Mary Todd Lincoln, is best known for the BBC sitcom Ghosts and earned a BAFTA nomination for HBO’s The Franchise. She has also appeared in Shrill, Black Mirror, Motherland, Saltburn and Wicked Little Letters, and began as a stand-up, taking her first solo show to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2015.
The incoming company brings a wide spread of stage work. Lucy Frederick is a comedian and character actor, known at the Edinburgh Fringe and as Rose Lavender, sister to Myra DuBois, in residencies at The Clapham Grand; she was nominated for Best Newcomer at the UK Pantomime Awards for Jack & The Beanstalk at Theatre Royal Stratford East. J.R. Ballantyne has appeared in Curtains at Wyndham’s Theatre and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the London Palladium, and in the RSC’s The BFG.
Vinnie Heaven was last on stage in Richard II at the Bridge Theatre and Mother Courage and Her Children at Shakespeare’s Globe, and played Nimble in HBO’s The Nevers. Syrus Lowe’s credits include Best of Enemies at the Young Vic and in the West End, The Inheritance, Saint Joan at the Donmar Warehouse and Earthquakes in London at the National Theatre.
They replace the opening company, whose final performance is Saturday 26 September. Jinkx Monsoon has played Mary Todd Lincoln since the West End premiere, with Scott Karim, Dino Fetscher, Kate O’Donnell and Oliver Stockley.
Written by Cole Escola and directed by Sam Pinkleton, the 80-minute one-act play imagines a suffocated, hard-drinking Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks before her husband’s assassination. It opened off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in January 2024, transferred to Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre that July, and reached the Trafalgar on 3 December 2025. Escola and Pinkleton both won Tony Awards for it, it was a Pulitzer Prize for Drama finalist, and it took Best Entertainment or Comedy Play at this year’s Olivier Awards. A US national tour launches this autumn.
The creative team also includes dots on set, Holly Pierson on costume, Cha See on lighting, Daniel Kluger on sound and music, Drew Levy on sound, Leah J. Loukas on wigs and David Dabbon on arrangements, with casting by Stuart Burt.
Oh, Mary! is booking at the Trafalgar Theatre until 2 January 2027.
