New production photos put Teri Hatcher’s Devil Wears Prada company on stage

Photo by Matt Crockett Matt Crockett’s new production photographs of the third-year company of The Devil Wears Prada are out, with Teri Hatcher as Miranda Priestly at the centre of a set shot on stage at the Dominion Theatre.

Front row, dark glasses on, a red dress under a black coat: that is how Teri Hatcher’s Miranda Priestly meets the lens in the new pictures from The Devil Wears Prada. Matt Crockett photographed the production’s third-year company on stage at the Dominion Theatre, and the set follows the story from Andy’s frantic first days at Runway all the way to Paris.

Two portraits of Hatcher in character were released when she joined the company on Tuesday 20 October, and we ran them here. Both were posed on the office set. These are the first to catch her mid-show: striding downstage in a fur-trimmed coat with the ensemble thrown into shapes behind her, then holding court in a dark skirt suit as the Runway staff scatter.

Around her, Matt Henry MBE plays Nigel, Jenna Bonner is Andy Sachs and Taila Halford is first assistant Emily, with Dean Makowski-Clayton as Andy’s boyfriend Nate and Dominic Andersen as Christian. Henry and Bonner raise champagne glasses in front of a window filled by the Eiffel Tower. Bonner and Makowski-Clayton perch on a mustard bedspread in Andy and Nate’s flat. Halford is wheeled across the stage on a hospital trolley by a line of men in scrubs.

The rest of the year-three line-up, including an ensemble of 27, was announced in September. Debbie Kurup, first standby for Miranda, covered the role full-time until 17 October.

The clothes carry much of the weight in these frames, and the production has put numbers to them. Costume designer Gregg Barnes combines hundreds of pieces made by hand for the cast with vintage and second-hand finds and labels including Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Balmain. Terry de Havilland has supplied more than 80 pairs of shoes. Miranda and Andy alone account for 11 costume changes, the curtain call gets through 680 grams of confetti a show (5.4 kilograms a week), and the deputy stage manager calls a cue roughly every six seconds.

The musical opened at the Dominion in December 2024, after a run at Theatre Royal Plymouth from 6 July to 17 August 2024. It has since become the fastest-selling show in the theatre’s history, with more than 1.3 million tickets sold, and it passed its 800th performance on 23 September. Elton John wrote the music, with lyrics by Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick, a book by Kate Wetherhead, and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell.

The Devil Wears Prada is booking at the Dominion Theatre until 25 September 2027, with evening performances Monday to Saturday at 19:30 and matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 14:30. Tickets start at £25.
