The first pictures of Teri Hatcher in costume as Miranda Priestly are out, on the day she takes over as Runway’s editor-in-chief in The Devil Wears Prada at the Dominion Theatre.
The new Miranda has been public knowledge since September. Now the name has a look to match. The Devil Wears Prada has released two images of Teri Hatcher in character, photographed by Matt Crockett on the Runway office set, as she joins the company at the Dominion Theatre from today, Tuesday 20 October 2026.
One frame has her in a grey tweed skirt suit, a pair of glasses held loosely in one hand. In the other she leans across the editor’s desk in a champagne satin blouse, a wall of black-and-white fashion prints behind her. The blonde bob, sharp and swept to one side, stays put in both.
Her casting was announced on 7 September, and the rehearsal-room pictures followed earlier this month. These are the first to show her as the character. Her final performance is currently set for 6 February 2027.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to play some pretty formidable women throughout my career, but very few can compare to THE Miranda Priestly,” Hatcher said. “Miranda is intelligent, commanding, and has a glorious way of putting you in your place while being funny at the same time. Her dialogue is unforgettable, her confidence is contagious.”
A Golden Globe winner best known for Desperate Housewives and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, Hatcher made her musical theatre debut as Sally Bowles on the national tour of Sam Mendes’ revival of Cabaret, and has more recently played Morticia Addams in The Addams Family.
The pictures also show off the wardrobe that the role comes with. Costume designer Gregg Barnes mixes labels including Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and Balmain with sourced vintage and second-hand pieces, and the footwear brand Terry de Havilland has supplied more than 80 pairs of shoes. Miranda and Andy Sachs alone account for 11 costume changes over the course of the show.
With music by Elton John, lyrics by Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick, a book by Kate Wetherhead and direction and choreography by Jerry Mitchell, the musical opened at the Dominion in December 2024 and has sold more than 1.3 million tickets, making it the fastest-selling show in the theatre’s history.
The Devil Wears Prada is booking until 25 September 2027, with tickets from £25. Evening performances are Monday to Saturday at 19:30, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 14:30.
