Maisie Smith sings Somewhere That's Green in a new video and song recording from Little Shop of Horrors, released a week before the revival opens at Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester.
One lamp, one face, and a carnivorous plant leaning into the frame. That is the new video from Little Shop of Horrors, in which Maisie Smith sings Somewhere That's Green with Audrey II a few inches away.
The film and the song recording behind it are out now, a week before the revival gives its first performance at Hope Mill Theatre, Manchester, on Friday 25 September 2026. The number is Audrey's daydream of a house, a garden and a life anywhere but Skid Row, and it is the closest look yet at what Smith is doing with the part. Christopher Dobson puppeteers Audrey II on camera and Marcus Ayton supplies its voice. The track was recorded at Noatune Studios with Ronan engineering, under musical supervisor Paul Schofield, and filmed by videographer Adam Nightingale.
It is also on YouTube, where the company's cast megamix arrived in August. Manchester is filling fast: more than 30 performances there have sold out, and the whole of September had gone by the first day of rehearsals.
The revival is directed and choreographed by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille, a Tony and Olivier Award nominee and the choreographer of SIX. Smith plays Audrey alongside Michael Starke as Mr Mushnik, Jed Berry as Seymour, Marcus Ayton as the voice of Audrey II and Benjamin Yates as Orin Scrivello, the dentist. The company is completed by Kai Cameron-Jay, Ella Howlett, Rio Maye, Psalms-Nissi Myers-Reid, Joseph Peacock, Nathen Scott and Gabrielle Davina Smith, with puppeteers Julia Frost, Christopher Dobson and Imogen Khan.
Alan Menken wrote the music and Howard Ashman the book and lyrics. Seymour, stuck in a failing flower shop on Skid Row, finds a plant nobody can identify and watches his luck turn with it. The catch is what the plant eats.
Set and costume design is by Morgan Large, and Audrey II is built from four purpose-made puppets by Robert Allsopp, whose credits run through Doctor Who, X-Men and The Witcher to the Tin Man in Wicked: For Good. The production comes from Thomas Hopkins Productions and SAMS Entertainment, in association with Hope Mill Theatre, and arrives in the year the 1986 film turns 40.
Little Shop of Horrors runs at Hope Mill Theatre, 113 Pollard Street, Manchester, from Friday 25 September to Saturday 28 November 2026, with press performances on Wednesday 7 October at 2.30pm or 7.30pm. It then transfers to Liverpool Playhouse in Williamson Square from Thursday 3 December 2026 to Saturday 9 January 2027, with Jessie Elland taking over as Audrey; press night there is Friday 4 December 2026 at 7pm.
