The first rehearsal photographs have arrived from the UK tour of Back to the Future The Musical, with Roger Bart back as Doc Brown and Axel Duffy as Marty McFly ahead of opening night in Bristol next month.
Roger Bart has both hands in the air and something to explain. Axel Duffy, in a white cap, is watching him do it. Behind them a skateboard sits on a packing crate, and the floor is bare boards marked out in tape. The first rehearsal photographs from the UK tour of Back to the Future The Musical, shot by Mark Senior, were released this morning.
It is the show’s first UK tour, and it opens at the Bristol Hippodrome on Thursday 8 October 2026. Bart plays Doc Brown, the role he played in the West End, and Duffy plays Marty McFly.
The rest of the company turns up across the set. Danielle Rose is in frame as Lorraine Baines, with Duffy in one photograph and with Toby Shellard’s Biff Tannen in another. Brandon Lee Sears is photographed with the ensemble as Goldie Wilson and Marvin Berry, and there are frames for Katrina Stenning as Linda McFly with Rhys Owen as Strickland, Tash Bacarese-Hamilton as Jennifer Parker, and Blake Jordan as Dave McFly with Rebecca French.
Bart’s own dates are fixed. He plays Doc Brown at the Bristol Hippodrome from 8 October - 21 November 2026, at the Edinburgh Playhouse from 2 December 2026 - 2 January 2027, and at the Liverpool Empire from 12 January - 6 February 2027. Brian Conley takes the part at Milton Keynes Theatre from 9-27 February 2027. Casting for the role beyond those dates has not been announced.
John Rando directs, with set and costume design by Tim Hatley, choreography by Chris Bailey and illusions by Chris Fisher. The West End production gave its final performance at the Adelphi Theatre on Sunday 12 April 2026 after five years, and the show has now been seen by more than 5.5 million people worldwide.
The full company for the tour was announced last week.
