Ethan Rouse and Bill Stanley will play Albus Potter and Scorpius Malfoy in the reimagined one-part Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which begins performances at the Palace Theatre on Friday 9 October 2026. The two-part staging gives its final performance on Sunday 20 September, ten years into its West End run.
Ethan Rouse will play Albus Potter and Bill Stanley his schoolfriend Scorpius Malfoy in the first cast of the reimagined one-part Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which begins performances at the Palace Theatre on Friday 9 October 2026.
They are joined by Zoë Rainey as Ginny Potter, Hasia Akwaboah as Rose Granger-Weasley and Adam Jackson-Smith, who takes on Scorpius’s father Draco Malfoy. Three of the current company stay with the production: David Ricardo-Pearce continues as Harry Potter, Thomas Aldridge as Ron Weasley and Naana Agyei Ampadu as Hermione Granger.
The casting has been announced in the same week the original staging finishes. The sold-out two-part production plays its final performance on Sunday 20 September 2026, closing a decade at the Palace Theatre. What ends is the format rather than the title: the play carries on in one complete performance from October, in the same house and under the same creative team. The London production passed its tenth anniversary in July.

John Tiffany directs, from a play by Jack Thorne based on an original new story by J.K. Rowling, Thorne and Tiffany. Movement is by Steven Hoggett, with set by Christine Jones, costumes by Katrina Lindsay, music and arrangements by Imogen Heap, lighting by Neil Austin, sound by Gareth Fry, illusions and magic by Jamie Harrison, and music supervision and arrangements by Martin Lowe. Casting is by Julia Horan CDG and Lotte Hines CDG, and the production is presented by Sonia Friedman Productions, Colin Callender and Harry Potter Theatrical Productions.
The story picks up 19 years after Harry, Ron and Hermione saw off the darkest wizard of their generation, and hands the next crisis to their children — a race through time, a set of forces nobody has accounted for, and a friendship between two boys who were never supposed to have one.
More than 14 million people have seen the play worldwide over the past decade, over 2.5 million of them in London. It won nine Laurence Olivier Awards, the most ever given to a play, and has taken a record 60 major honours around the world, among them six Tony Awards. Five productions are running — London, New York, Tokyo, the Netherlands and a North American tour — after earlier stagings in Hamburg, Melbourne, San Francisco and Toronto.
The one-part production is booking to Sunday 27 June 2027, with tickets from £25. Performances are Tuesday to Saturday at 7pm, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 1pm and on Sunday at 2.30pm. Four access performances are on sale: British Sign Language performances on Sunday 17 January and Sunday 9 May 2027, and captioned performances on Sunday 31 January and Sunday 16 May 2027, each at 2.30pm.
