Headlong has released the first production photographs of Fences, now open at Leeds Playhouse and bound for the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in October.
Headlong has released the first stage photographs of August Wilson’s Fences, shot by Tyler Fayose at Leeds Playhouse. They are the second set of pictures from this production inside a month, following the rehearsal-room images issued in August, and the difference between the two is rather the point: the company now has a world to stand in.
Lily Arnold’s design gives the Maxsons a brick back wall, a wooden porch and the half-finished fence the play is named for, and the photographs set the cast around it — Ray Fearon’s Troy holding the yard, Madeline Appiah’s Rose watching him across it, Josh Tedeku’s Cory caught between the two. Daniel Bailey directs.
The Leeds run continues to Saturday 26 September, with press night on Wednesday 16 September, before Oxford, Hammersmith, Manchester and Nottingham carry the production through to the middle of November. The cast list, the creative team and the date-by-date itinerary are all in our earlier report.
Fences has its only London dates at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, running from Tuesday 6 to Saturday 31 October, and tickets for those performances are on sale now.
