Death Note The Musical returns to the Barbican Theatre in March 2027, with a second London run booking through to mid-May. The return follows heavy demand for the show's current season at the same address.
That season is a limited six-week engagement, and it marks the show's London premiere. The spring dates give the production a considerably longer stay.
The musical is based on the manga by Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata, which has sold tens of millions of copies worldwide, and it was named Best Musical at the Korea Musical Awards. The score is by Frank Wildhorn, composer of Jekyll & Hyde, Dracula and Bonnie & Clyde, with lyrics by Jack Murphy and a book by Ivan Menchell.
The Barbican production is directed by Stephen Whitson, associate director of the West End stagings of Hamilton and Moulin Rouge!, with choreography by Olivier Award winner Fabian Aloise and set designs by Jon Bausor. The current cast is led by Xander Pang as Light and Colin Ryan as the detective L, with Telly Leung as Ryuk, Stephanie Zaharis as Misa Amane, Grace Mouat as Rem and Paolo Montalban as Soichiro Yagami. Casting for the 2027 run has not been announced.
Tickets for the new run are expected to go on sale on Friday 11 September 2026. The current season plays its final performance on Saturday 12 September 2026; book to see Death Note The Musical at the Barbican Theatre.
