Six London productions, Avenue Q and the National Theatre's War Horse among them, are nominated in the London Theatre category of the 42nd Artios Awards, the Casting Society's honours for casting directors, and the winners will be named at One Moorgate Place on Thursday 18 February 2027.
The Casting Society announced its theatre, television, commercials, short film and short-form nominations for the 42nd Artios Awards on 7 October, and the London list is notable as much for its repetitions as for its range. Two casting directors account for four of the six places: Jim Carnahan, working with associate Liz Fraser, is nominated twice, and so is Jessica Ronane.
The London Theatre nominees
- Avenue Q (Shaftesbury Theatre): Rosie Pearson and James Pearson
- Every Brilliant Thing (Soho Place Theatre): Jessica Ronane
- Mary Page Marlowe (Old Vic Theatre): Jim Carnahan, with Liz Fraser as associate casting director
- Romeo & Juliet (Harold Pinter Theatre): Jim Carnahan, with Liz Fraser as associate casting director
- The Lady from the Sea (Bridge Theatre): Jessica Ronane
- War Horse (Olivier, National Theatre): Jill Green, with Olivia Laydon as associate casting director
The awards are presented at three galas on the same evening. London's takes place at One Moorgate Place on Thursday 18 February 2027, while Los Angeles gathers at The Beverly Hilton and New York at The Edison Ballroom. "It is an honor to celebrate casting professionals across the globe in ceremonies in London, New York, and Los Angeles," said Destiny Lilly, the Society's president.
Feature films are not yet in the running: submissions for theatrically released films open on 26 October, and those nominations follow on 16 December. The full list of television, theatre and other nominations is on the Casting Society's website.
Of the six London nominees, Avenue Q is the one still on sale, and is booking at the Shaftesbury Theatre until 3 January 2027.
