Princeton has just left college. So what does life have in store for him? Ending up in a tatty apartment on New York's grubby Avenue Q, he's delighted to meet a bunch of eccentric, colourful neighbours to navigate the baffling world of work, love, and money with. The result is a hilarious musical extravaganza loved by millions of people around the world, produced in Australia, Brazil, Denmark, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Mexico, Portugal, South Africa, and Spain, as well as the UK and USA.
Witty, catchy, and wickedly funny, it stars Kate Monster, the cute kindergarten teaching assistant with big dreams, Rod the Republican banker, Rod's mellow roommate Nicky, and Trekkie Monster, who is addicted to the internet. As they search for their purpose, the puppets discover the biggest life lessons are not always the simplest ones.
The Broadway musical attracted six Tony nominations, winning Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, and Best Original Score. The cast recording was nominated for a Grammy, and the London production was nominated for Best New Musical at the 2007 Oliviers.
This time around, the original Broadway director Jason Moore, who gave us Pitch Perfect and Shrek the Musical, along with original puppet designer Rick Lyon, are back to make this revival even more special. The book is by Jeff Whitty, and the Music and Lyrics come from Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx.
This is a particularly popular West End musical extravaganza, a charming, fun and infectious show to remember, billed as irreverent and irresistible. We predict Avenue Q tickets will sell fast!
