The first London production images have been released for Under the Influence, the comedy musical written and performed by Carine Gilbert and Frances Gilbert with Shona Maule, now running at the King’s Head Theatre until Saturday 26 September 2026.
New production images have been released for Under the Influence, photographed by Danny Kaan, a few days into the show’s run at the King’s Head Theatre. The comedy musical opened officially on Friday 11 September and plays until Saturday 26 September 2026, a short London stay following a full run at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
The piece is written and performed by Carine Gilbert and Frances Gilbert, identical twins who post as The Gilbert Twins to an online following of more than three million, with Shona Maule completing the three-hander. Book and lyrics are by the Gilberts; Maule takes lyrics, composition and musical direction, and the score is an original one rather than a compilation.
The premise comes from the writers’ own experience of couples therapy. Two sisters arrive for a session as, in the production’s own phrase, the world’s most co-dependent non-couple, and what follows turns into a musical intervention on sisterhood, online pressure and the search for a voice of one’s own.
Georgie Rankcom directs, with lighting design by Tom Turner and Michelle Payne as associate director.
