Full cast announced for The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time UK tour

Full casting is announced for the UK and Ireland tour of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, with Alex Keenan and Imi Price becoming the first women to play Chris Boone, alongside Charlie Brooks and Joe McFadden.
Melting Pot and Birmingham Rep have announced full casting for their new production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, adapted from Mark Haddon's multi-million-selling novel. In a bold new interpretation, the central role of Chris Boone will be played by Alex Keenan, alternating with Imi Price – the first women to take on one of contemporary theatre's most iconic characters.
They join the previously announced Charlie Brooks, best known as Janine Butcher in EastEnders, and Joe McFadden, the 2017 Strictly Come Dancing winner whose credits include Holby City and Heartbeat, who play Chris's parents, Ed and Judy.
Completing the company are Bridgette Amofah as Siobhan, alongside Alex Murdoch, Matthew Bulgo, Jerone Marsh Reid, Carla Garratt, Tom Clegg, Robert Penny and Sera Mustafa, who each perform multiple roles across the ensemble.
Adapted by acclaimed playwright Simon Stephens and directed by Ned Bennett, the production opens at Birmingham Rep from Saturday 5 to Saturday 19 September before embarking on a major UK and Ireland tour running into 2027. The creative team includes set and costume designer Eleanor Bull, lighting designer Laura Howard, composer and sound designer Giles Thomas, video designer Hayley Egan and movement director Jenni Jackson.
Chris Boone is gifted with a brilliant mind for numbers but unsettled by the unpredictability of people and everyday life. When a neighbour's dog is discovered killed, Chris comes under suspicion and, determined to prove her innocence, becomes both detective and suspect – drawn into a mystery that grows darker with every clue and reveals secrets much closer to home.
First staged at the National Theatre in 2012, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time received widespread acclaim for its groundbreaking design and emotional storytelling, and has since been seen by more than five million people worldwide. Inventive, gripping and moving, it combines the intrigue of a whodunnit with a powerful coming-of-age story. The production is produced by Melting Pot and Birmingham Rep.
