BalletBoyz have released the first images from the rehearsal room of Six Lethargies, the world premiere that marks the company’s 25th year at Sadler’s Wells from 18-21 November 2026.
Bare brick, tall studio windows, a grey floor and a lot of bare feet. The first pictures from inside the Six Lethargies rehearsals show the company working at close quarters, a long way from the scale the piece will reach on stage. They were taken by photographer Alex Storey and released today.
That scale is the headline. When it opens at Sadler’s Wells on Wednesday 18 November 2026, 44 dancers will share the stage with 37 string players performing live. The run ends on Saturday 21 November.
The frames catch the eight dancers who were named to lead the company last month: Joshua Attwood, Dan Baines, Alex De La Bastide, Paris Fitzpatrick, Dylan Jones, Elisabet Liisu Cerenius, Faye Tan and Kai Tomioka. Some shots find them low on the floor and tangled together, others in close-up between runs. Choreographers Iván Pérez and Seirian Griffiths are in the room too, watching and talking it through.
The movement grew out of the music. Keaton Henson, a composer, musician, poet and visual artist who has worked with the company for years, wrote Six Lethargies for string orchestra in 2019, asking whether a listener could feel what he felt. Pérez and Griffiths have put the same question to the body, building the piece with BalletBoyz founders Michael Nunn and William Trevitt as a journey through six emotional landscapes.
“Six Lethargies is the thing I am most proud of, it was created to explore the physiology of music, how fervently it can manifest in our body and mind,” Henson said. “So to me it is a logical next step to reinterpret it and tell a new story using the body itself.”
