Sleepwalk Immersive returns to Hoxton Hall in February 2027 with Caesar, an immersive retelling of the plot against Rome’s ruler, moved to the criminal underworld of 1940s Chinatown and staged across four floors of the building.
Sleepwalk Immersive is heading back to Hoxton Hall. Its new production, Caesar, opens in February 2027 for a four-week run, co-produced with the East London venue.
The show relocates the assassination of Julius Caesar to the gangland of 1940s Chinatown, drawing on both the historical events and Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar. It begins with the general home in triumph and a lavish party under way. Talk of treachery spreads, allegiances start to crack, and a prophecy sets a deadly plot in motion.
There is no set route through the evening. The production fills four floors of the Grade II* listed hall, and audiences roam as they please: shadow the conspirators, stay close to Caesar, or drift between scenes to find out what others would rather keep quiet. Anyone who wants to get involved can interact with the cast, while those who prefer to watch can hang back.
The company was founded in 2022 by Sebastian Huang. Its first show, Bacchanalia, also ran at Hoxton Hall, earned five-star reviews and was picked by The Stage as one of its Top 50 UK Shows of 2023.
Sebastian Huang said: “Sleepwalk Immersive has always been about creating worlds that audiences can step into and make their own. Bacchanalia began as a one-man show, so returning to the venue with an entirely new production feels particularly exciting. With Caesar, we’re taking that spirit of exploration into 1940s Chinatown, bringing Shakespeare’s story of ambition, loyalty and betrayal to life in a way that feels immediate, atmospheric and deeply personal. We want audiences to feel as though they’ve stumbled into a world that exists beyond the stage, where every choice leads somewhere different.”
Tickets are not yet on sale. The company is taking sign-ups to a waitlist for updates and ticket announcements, and members of its Friends of Sleepwalk scheme get exclusive benefits and early access to booking.
Caesar runs at Hoxton Hall, a 346-seat theatre built in 1863, for four weeks from February 2027.
