The announcement comes a month after the musical's 40th anniversary gala on Friday 9 October 2026 at His Majesty's Theatre, the show's London home since 1986. At the finale, Michael Crawford and Sarah Brightman came back on stage with alumni from four decades of the run to share a curtain call with the current company. The London production is also set to be filmed live for a 2027 cinema release. Separately, the touring production Cameron Mackintosh created in 2012, with a new creative team and Maria Björnson's original costume designs, has its German premiere in Cologne on 5 November 2026.

Cameron Mackintosh produces with LW Entertainment. Music is by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Charles Hart with additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, and the book by Stilgoe and Lloyd Webber, after the novel Le Fantôme de l'Opéra by Gaston Leroux. Harold Prince directed the original staging; the current production is directed by Seth Sklar-Heyn. The design is by Maria Björnson, with lighting by Andrew Bridge, sound by Mick Potter, and Gillian Lynne's musical staging and choreography recreated by Chrissie Cartwright. The score includes The Music of the Night, All I Ask of You and Masquerade.

Phantom of the Opera is booking at His Majesty's Theatre through to October 2027, with tickets from £25.
