The British musical that started life in a 77-seat London studio has extended its Broadway run for the eleventh time: Operation Mincemeat now books at New York's Golden Theatre until Sunday 25 April 2027, while the West End production carries on at the Fortune Theatre.
The New York staging of Operation Mincemeat has added six further weeks to its run at the Golden Theatre on West 45th Street, taking it to Sunday 25 April 2027. It is the eleventh extension for a production that was first scheduled for only 16 weeks when it began performances on 15 February 2025, and it follows the tenth by just three weeks.
The show was commissioned by the New Diorama Theatre, where it opened in 2019 in a room of 77 seats, with The Lowry as co-commissioner. Since then it has collected 68 award nominations and 24 wins, Best Musical at the Olivier Awards among them. Broadway added four Tony nominations in 2025, including Best Musical, and a win for Jak Malone as Best Featured Actor in a Musical for the role of Hester Leggatt, the same category in which Malone had already won the Olivier.
For London audiences, the production continues at the Fortune Theatre, where its run has recently been extended into a fifth year. The world tour opened with a UK leg, which has added 36 weeks of dates since, and its North American leg began on 20 September with two performances at the Providence Performing Arts Center in Rhode Island, attended by 5,200 people. Mexico, China, Australia and New Zealand are to follow.
With four companies now playing at once, the show reached a new high on 26 September, when 9,734 people saw it across Broadway, the West End, the UK tour and the North American tour, its largest combined audience on a single day. Repeat visits are a feature of the New York run in particular: more than 5,000 Broadway ticket buyers, roughly one in 25, have booked for more than one performance, and 205 have bought tickets for ten or more.
Writing in The New York Times, Taffy Brodesser-Akner said: "It's not just the best musical I've ever seen; it's the most rewarding theatrical experience I've ever had."
The Broadway company currently features Brandon Contreras as Charles Cholmondeley and others, Jessi Kirtley as Jean Leslie and others, Tony nominee Julia Knitel as Ewen Montagu and others, Jeff Kready as Hester Leggatt and others, and Amanda Jill Robinson as Johnny Bevan and others. The understudies are Robert Ariza, Allison Guinn, Sam Hartley, Gerianne Pérez and Lexi Rabadi.
Written by the triple Tony-nominated company SpitLip, which is David Cumming, Felix Hagan, Natasha Hodgson and Zoë Roberts, and directed by Robert Hastie, the musical tells the true story of a 1943 deception in which British intelligence used a stolen corpse to turn the course of the Second World War, played as a farce, a thriller and a spy caper at once, with Ian Fleming lending a hand. Avalon produces both the Broadway and West End productions, in association with SpitLip.
The new Broadway weeks go on general sale on Friday 16 October 2026, a day after a 24-hour presale for the show's mailing list opens on Thursday 15 October. Presale prices are $79, $129 and $179, with seats in the front two rows at $79.
In London, Operation Mincemeat is booking now at the Fortune Theatre.
