Andrew Lloyd Webber’s immersive Phantom, Masquerade, extends in New York to May 2027

Photo by Mark Minton Masquerade, the walk-through The Phantom of the Opera that Andrew Lloyd Webber co-created for New York, has extended for a seventh time. It now runs at 218 West 57th Street until Sunday 30 May 2027.

The new date adds three months to a run that had been booking to 28 February. It lands in the same week the original The Phantom of the Opera marks 40 years in the West End, with a gala performance at His Majesty’s Theatre on 9 October.

There are no seats. Audiences move through the opera house in groups of 60: a masked ball, dressing rooms within reach of the cast, then down through the mirrors to the Phantom’s lair. The show has won a Drama Desk Award and an Off-Broadway Alliance Award.

Lloyd Webber created it with director Diane Paulus and producer Randy Weiner. “Seven extensions in, word of mouth continues to drive growing demand,” said Weiner. The score is the original, with lyrics by Charles Hart and additional lyrics by Richard Stilgoe, and the production is presented by arrangement with LW Entertainment. Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui choreographs, with sets by Scott Pask and masks by Nicola Formichetti.

Performances run Tuesday to Sunday evenings, with matinees at weekends. On 31 October the company stages its second Le Bal Macabre, a Halloween ball held on the set after the evening show.

No London staging of Masquerade has been announced. For a New York trip, it is booking at frombroadway.com. In London, The Phantom of the Opera is booking at His Majesty’s Theatre.
