Jamie Muscato and Sharon Rose lead the full West End cast of One Day at the Garrick

Jamie Muscato, Sharon Rose and the West End cast of One Day the musical Jamie Muscato and Sharon Rose lead the full West End company of One Day, the musical version of David Nicholls’ novel, which begins performances at the Garrick Theatre on 17 November.

Jamie Muscato and Sharon Rose reprise their roles as Dex and Em when One Day transfers to the Garrick Theatre, and the rest of the company and the creative team were confirmed this morning. Performances begin on Tuesday 17 November 2026.

Muscato, whose London credits include Cabaret at the Playhouse Theatre, The Great Gatsby at the London Coliseum and Moulin Rouge! The Musical at the Piccadilly Theatre, plays Dexter. Rose, whose credits include Sylvia at the Old Vic and Hamilton at the Victoria Palace Theatre, plays Emma.

The announcement came with a first taste of the score: a teaser of Muscato singing You, the number in which Dex realises what he really feels for Em. It is on the production’s YouTube channel, and here:

Around them, Dan Buckley plays Ian, Dougie Carter is Callum, Anna-Jane Casey is Alison Mayhew and Christopher Dickins is Stephen Mayhew. Ross Dawes plays Mr Godalming, Kelly Hampson is Sylvie, Jennifer Louise Jones is Miffy and Romona Lewis-Malley is Tilly. Vanessa Fisher and Ewan Murphy complete the ensemble, with Rosalía Morales and Tom Mussell as understudies, while Bonnie Harper, Esmae Kevany, Hannah McIntyre and Ava-Rae Timewell share the roles of Jasmine and Sonia.

The six-piece band is led by Nigel Lilley, musical director and keys, with Luke Baxter on drums, Shelley Britton on violin and synth, Gemma Connor on cello, Matt Isaac on guitar and Marcus Pritchard on bass and double bass.

The book is by David Greig, former artistic director of the Royal Lyceum Theatre, Edinburgh, with music and lyrics by Abner and Amanda Ramirez of the American band Johnnyswim and additional material by Jeremy Sams. Max Webster directs, with choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille and set and costume design by Rae Smith. Lighting is by Bruno Poet, sound by Simon Baker, video by Lewis den Hertog and wigs, hair and make-up by Carole Hancock. Nigel Lilley is also musical supervisor and co-arranger alongside orchestrator Simon Hale, and the team is completed by casting director Stuart Burt CDG, intimacy director Ingrid Mackinnon, voice coach Barbara Houseman and production manager Chris Hay, with children’s casting by Keston and Keston.

The show is based on David Nicholls’ bestseller, which has sold more than five million copies and has already been adapted for film and television, and on the Focus Features film. It meets Emma and Dexter on the night they graduate, then returns to the same date year after year as their lives draw together and apart.

Simon Friend and Hanna Osmolska produce for Melting Pot, by arrangement with Universal Theatrical Group. One Day is booking now at the Garrick Theatre, 2 Charing Cross Road.
