One Day description

A sweeping new love story arrives in the West End as One Day opens at the Garrick Theatre. Billed as a breathtaking new musical based on the global bestselling novel, this is one of the most eagerly anticipated theatrical events of the season - a soaring, heart-swelling romance that has already captured readers and filmgoers around the world.

Based on David Nicholls' beloved novel One Day, the musical charts twenty years of friendship, love and missed opportunities between two people who can never quite get the timing right. Emma walks into Dexter's life on the night of their graduation - one unsuspecting day that changes them both forever - and from that single meeting spins a story of longing, ambition, heartbreak and hope.

Revisiting Emma and Dexter across two decades, One Day follows their lives as they drift together and apart, chase their dreams and dodge their feelings, growing up in ways they never expected. It is a tender, funny and profoundly moving portrait of the one relationship that defines them both - and the day that keeps bringing them back to each other.

The production reunites a formidable creative team. The book is by Olivier Award-winning playwright David Greig, with music and lyrics by Abner and Amanda Ramirez and additional material by Jeremy Sams. It is directed by Max Webster, whose acclaimed staging of Life of Pi conquered the West End and Broadway, with choreography by Carrie-Anne Ingrouille and musical supervision, direction and co-arrangements by Nigel Lilley. The show features set and costume design by the Tony and Olivier Award-winning Rae Smith, lighting by Bruno Poet, sound by Simon Baker, orchestrations and co-arrangements by Simon Hale, and casting by Stuart Burt CDG.

Leading the company are Jamie Muscato as Dexter Mayhew and Sharon Rose as Emma Morley, with further casting to be announced. Demand for this landmark new musical is expected to be extraordinary, so buy tickets early to secure the best seats for one of the most romantic nights out in London.
