Jenna Bonner will play Andy Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada from 20 October, moving into the lead from the company she is already part of at the Dominion Theatre. Taila Halford continues as Emily Charlton. The production announced both on its own social channels, describing Bonner as a new second assistant in the same lumpy blue sweater.
Bonner is listed in the ensemble on the production’s current cast sheet, which makes this a promotion from inside the company rather than an outside hire. She takes the part from Stevie Doc, who plays Andy at the Dominion at the moment; the production has not said which performance will be Doc’s last.
The date is the one to note, because 20 October is also when Teri Hatcher begins her run as Miranda Priestly. Debbie Kurup is playing the editor until 17 October, so Runway gets a new editor-in-chief and a new second assistant on the same night. Matt Henry plays Nigel, Dominic Andersen plays Christian and Keelan McAuley plays Nate.
The casting lands on a milestone of the show’s own. Today’s performance is the 800th at the Dominion, a date the producers named in August when they extended the booking period to September 2027.
The musical has a score by Elton John, lyrics by Shaina Taub and Mark Sonnenblick and a book by Kate Wetherhead, drawn from Lauren Weisberger’s novel and the film that followed it. Jerry Mitchell directs and choreographs.
The Devil Wears Prada is booking at the Dominion Theatre until Saturday 25 September 2027. Performances run Monday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with matinees on Wednesday and Saturday at 2.30pm, and the running time is two hours 30 minutes including one interval.
