The company of Into the Woods will press the button on St Martin's Lane's first festive lights switch-on on 3 November.
St Martin's Lane has its own Christmas moment this year, and the cast of Into the Woods will be at the heart of it. The company, currently running at the Noël Coward Theatre on that same street, performs at the lane's first lights switch-on on 3 November.
The street has been dressed for Christmas since 2022, when the Heart of London Business Alliance and its cultural arm, Art of London, first put lights up. Until now there has never been a ceremony to go with them.
Things begin at 4pm, with businesses along the lane handing out seasonal tastings while the cast and a choir perform outside. The lights go on at 4.45pm. The display has a theatre theme, runs on energy-efficient LED bulbs with fully recyclable coloured inserts, and will be lit every day from 3.30pm to 10.30pm.
The street event is free, with places reserved through the Art of London event page.
Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine's Into the Woods opened at the Noël Coward Theatre earlier this month and is booking now.
