The first images of the new principal cast of Hadestown have been released, with Nathan Sykes as Orpheus, Danielle de Niese as Persephone and Shaun Dooley as Hades from 15 September.
The first photographs of the incoming principal cast of Hadestown have been released, ahead of their first performance at the Lyric Theatre on 15 September. They are shot by Michael Wharley.
Nathan Sykes plays Orpheus. Sykes came to attention as a member of The Wanted before a solo career, and this is his move into a leading West End role. Fayth Ifil plays Eurydice; she first appeared in the West End at the age of ten and has since led in Tina - The Tina Turner Musical and Just For One Day.
Danielle de Niese takes Persephone. The soprano has sung with most of the world's major opera companies and won the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Opera earlier this year. Opposite her, Shaun Dooley plays Hades, bringing a screen record that includes Mr Bates vs The Post Office, It's a Sin, Gentleman Jack, Broadchurch and Saltburn, alongside stage work including Jez Butterworth's The Hills of California for Sam Mendes.
Malinda Parris plays Hermes, the role that narrates the evening. Her West End credits include & Juliet, Hercules, The Little Big Things, Mary Poppins, Matilda, Caroline, or Change and Parade.
They join Melanie Bright, Spike Maxwell and Lauran Rae as the Fates, and Femi Akinfolarin, Michelle Andrews, Gabriela Benedetti, Ollie Bingham and Sebastian Lim-Seet as the Workers, with Juan Jackson, Oisín Nolan-Power, Lindo Shinda, Jasmine Triadi and Milly Willows as swings.
Hadestown has music, lyrics and book by Anaïs Mitchell, who began it as an indie theatre project and album before developing it into a musical with director Rachel Chavkin. It braids two myths: Orpheus and Eurydice, and Hades and Persephone. Choreography is by David Neumann, with set design by Rachel Hauck, costumes by Michael Krass, lighting by Bradley King and sound by Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz. Liam Robinson is music supervisor, with arrangements and orchestrations by Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose.

Hadestown is booking at the Lyric Theatre on Shaftesbury Avenue, with tickets from £25. The running time is approximately two hours and thirty minutes including an interval.
