A shipping container will sit on The Cut from 24 March - 24 April 2027, and inside it, in total darkness, Eulogy will walk audiences through a hotel that is not there.
A corridor, a locked room, a voice at your shoulder telling you to read the pamphlet – and no light at all. DARKFIELD’s Eulogy is performed in complete darkness inside a shipping container parked outside the Young Vic on The Cut, and it runs there from 24 March - 24 April 2027. It is one of four productions announced today to complete the theatre’s 2026/27 season.
The container becomes a hotel basement. Audiences check in as guests without being told why they are staying, and are led by a chaperone through rooms, corridors and spaces that exist only in binaural sound. The company builds the effect from 360-degree audio and speech recognition technology, so what the audience says shapes where the dream goes next.
Eulogy is not new. It premiered as part of the BFI London Film Festival in 2021 and has since toured venues in the UK and Australia. DARKFIELD has taken its container pieces to more than 800,000 people across the UK, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, North America, Turkey and Mexico, and the work has played Venice, Tribeca, IDFA, Raindance and SXSW. In 2021 the company won the Breakthrough Award from Columbia University’s Digital Storytelling Lab.

Booking opens at 11am on 1 October for Patrons+, with Good Friends from 5 October and Friends from 6 October, and general booking from 11am on 7 October. Eulogy plays outside the Young Vic on The Cut from 24 March - 24 April 2027.
