The first production photos from Toto are out. They deliver what the premise promises: a donkey in a striped T-shirt, a company in white flight suits and a planet glowing at the back of the stage at Polka Theatre in Wimbledon.
Polka Theatre has released the first images of Toto, its world premiere co-production with Topper and Fred, which opened in the venue's Y C Chan Theatre on Saturday 10 October.
The show adapts Ximo Abadia's illustrated book about a young donkey who turns down the life of a beast of burden. Toto wants to be an astronaut, and sets off for the city to chase it. The pictures track that ambition, from a home-made cardboard rocket held high to the whole company lined up in spacesuits.
Inès Mazdon Delas plays the title role, with Mya Fox-Scott as Luna Lopez, Ricardo Castro as Mucho Dinero and Alice Keedwell as Fernanda. Jennifer Tang directs, and Harry Blake wrote the music and lyrics for the stage version. Full details of the company arrived with the casting announcement in September.
Set and costumes are by Charlotte Henery, with lighting by Benny Goodman, sound by Dan Balfour and choreography by Jennifer Fletcher.
Polka recommends the show for children aged 3-8. Toto runs until Sunday 1 November 2026.
