Sister Act goes back on the road in September 2027, opening a UK and Ireland tour at New Wimbledon Theatre with Craig Revel Horwood as Mother Superior, Paul Chuckle as Monsignor O'Hara and Zoe Birkett as Deloris Van Cartier. The first dates go on sale on Wednesday 21 October.
A UK and Ireland tour of Sister Act starts at New Wimbledon Theatre on Saturday 11 September 2027. Wimbledon gets one week, to Saturday 18 September. The tour then runs to the end of March 2028, with 17 venues confirmed so far and Dublin to follow.
Tickets for the Wimbledon week go on sale on Wednesday 21 October, along with Sunderland, Manchester, Birmingham, Brighton and Oxford. Other venues follow over the next few weeks, and a handful have yet to set a date.
Craig Revel Horwood, the Strictly Come Dancing judge, plays Mother Superior. Paul Chuckle, of ChuckleVision fame, is Monsignor O'Hara. Zoe Birkett, whose stage credits include Moulin Rouge! The Musical and Tina: The Tina Turner Musical, plays Deloris Van Cartier at selected venues. More casting is still to come.
Check the cast before you book. Revel Horwood plays the first five stops, from Wimbledon to Manchester, and even there he is not in the Friday or Saturday performances. He is out of Southend and Birmingham, where Mother Superior has yet to be cast. Birkett is in from Wimbledon to Birmingham. From Cardiff in January 2028 onwards, neither appears, and casting for those dates will be announced later.
The musical takes its story from the Whoopi Goldberg film. Deloris is a disco singer who sees a murder she was never meant to see, and the police hide her in a convent while the case is built. Hiding in plain sight, she takes over the sisters' struggling choir, and the results surprise everyone, Deloris included. Alan Menken wrote the music, with a score that leans on Motown, soul and disco, to lyrics by Glenn Slater. The book is by Cheri Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner, with additional book material by Douglas Carter Beane.
Jamie Wilson produces, through Jamie Wilson Productions. Bill Buckhurst directs, with choreography by Alistair David, set and costumes by Morgan Large, lighting by Tim Mitchell and sound by Tom Marshall. Stephen Brooker is musical supervisor, Sam Cox designs the wigs, hair and make-up, and casting is by Pearson Casting.
