Rent extends at the Tom Stoppard Theatre to May 2027 as production photos are released

Rent is staying on at the Tom Stoppard Theatre. The revival of Jonathan Larson's musical has extended its booking period to Saturday 29 May 2027. The producers cite demand, and 35,000 extra seats have gone on sale with the new dates.

Previews began on 26 September 2026, thirty years after the show first reached Broadway. Our first look at the staging ran that night. Now the photographers have been in: Pamela Raith and Danny Kaan shot the pictures below.

Gaten Matarazzo plays Mark, with Travis Ross as Roger and Alexa Lopez as Mimi. Billy Nevers is Collins and Lazy Violet is Maureen. Olivier Award nominee Danielle Fiamanya plays Joanne, Jeevan Braich is Angel and Joaquin Pedro Valdes is Benny.

Completing the company are Baylie Carson, Laura Delany, Ryesha Higgs, Montoya Holloway-Johnson, Rhys Hopkins, Shem Omari James, Hannah Macpherson, TJ Matara-Holloway, Ryan Nixon, Leah Vassell, James Wilkinson-Jones and Kevin Yates.

Set in New York's East Village and drawn from Puccini's La Bohème, the musical tracks a circle of young artists and musicians trying to love, create and get by on their own terms. Larson wrote the book, music and lyrics.

Luke Sheppard directs, with choreography by Tom Jackson Greaves. Sets are by David Woodhead, costumes by Gabriella Slade, lighting by Howard Hudson and sound by Paul Gatehouse, with video and cinematography by George Reeve and Nathan Amzi. Bill Sherman is musical supervisor and orchestrator, and Katy Richardson is musical director.

The production comes from Chris Harper Productions, Sonia Friedman Productions, Winkler & Smalberg and Julie Larson, in association with the Hope Mill Theatre. Sheppard first staged the show at the Manchester venue, and that version won the WhatsOnStage Award for Best Regional Production.

Rent runs at the Tom Stoppard Theatre on St Martin's Lane, and the extended dates are on sale now.
