Matthew McGivern and Sophie Craig are pictured as Leonard and Romaine Vole in the first production photographs of the sixteenth cast of Witness for the Prosecution, as Agatha Christie’s courtroom drama starts its tenth year at London County Hall.
Matthew McGivern, who is making his West End debut as the accused man Leonard Vole, sits at the centre of a new set of pictures from Witness for the Prosecution, released today. They were taken by Mark Senior in the old council chamber at County Hall, where the audience is seated around the court while the case against Vole is fought out.
Sophie Craig, another West End newcomer whose screen work includes Emmerdale, plays Romaine Vole. Jo Stone-Fewings and Crispin Redman are back in the roles of Sir Wilfrid Robarts QC and Mr Mayhew, with Jude Owusu as Mr Myers QC and David Shaw-Parker on the bench as Mr Justice Wainwright.
This company took over on 22 September 2026, and we reported its casting when the run was extended into 2027. Lucy Bailey directs, in designs by William Dudley, with lighting by Chris Davey and sound by Mic Pool. The production comes from Eleanor Lloyd Productions and Rebecca Stafford Productions.
Christie fans have a second date coming up. From 30 October 2026 the British Library opens Agatha Christie: A World of Mystery, a major exhibition on the writer’s life and work fifty years after her death, and items from Witness for the Prosecution are among the objects on show.
The production’s own trailer, filmed with an earlier company in 2023, gives a sense of how the chamber is used (watch it on YouTube).
Witness for the Prosecution is booking at London County Hall until 19 September 2027, with performances Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30pm, matinees on Thursday and Saturday at 2.30pm and on Sunday at 3pm, and tickets from £17.
