First look at Christmas Carol Goes Wrong in rehearsal ahead of its tour and Wyndham's season

Mischief has released a set of rehearsal photographs for Christmas Carol Goes Wrong, taken by Danny Kaan. The tour opens at the Churchill Theatre Bromley on 27 October 2026. The London run follows at Wyndham's Theatre from 18 December 2026 to 23 January 2027.

The company's own line is that the pictures were meant to be kept as evidence and were let out by mistake. They show the cast working through the Dickens send-up among half-built Victorian street fronts, a grandfather clock and a toy theatre.

The rehearsal room holds the West End and touring company announced earlier: James Akka as Dennis, Adam Elliott as Chris, Matthew Howell as Robert, Luke Pierre as Jonathan, Aein Nasseri as Trevor, Dumile Sibanda as Annie and Ashley Tucker as Sandra. Original Mischief member Dave Hearn plays Max until 23 January 2027, and Jay Olpin takes the role for the last six tour venues.

The understudies are Billie Hamer, Robert Lane, Claire Lee Shenfield, Jay Olpin (until 23 January 2027), Josh Patel-Foster (from 26 January 2027) and Jamie Sandersfield. Manchester and Portsmouth get the original West End cast instead.

The premise is unchanged: the Cornley Amateur Drama Society takes on A Christmas Carol, and loses the fight with its own set, its missing actors and a running row over who gets to play Ebenezer Scrooge. The show sold out its first West End season last Christmas.

Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields wrote it, the same Mischief trio behind The Play That Goes Wrong. Matt DiCarlo directs, as he did on The Comedy About Spies. Design is by Libby Todd (set), Roberto Surace (costume), David Howe (lighting) and Alexandra Faye Braithwaite (sound and music). Kenny Wax and Stage Presence produce.
