Rehearsal pictures have arrived for the 75th anniversary UK and Ireland tour of The Mousetrap, which opens in Birmingham on 3 September before visiting more than 25 cities.
The company of The Mousetrap is in the rehearsal room, and the first pictures of Agatha Christie’s thriller in preparation for its 75th anniversary tour have been released. The production opens in Birmingham on 3 September 2026 and travels to more than 25 cities across the UK and Ireland, with dates running into 2027.
Leading the touring company are Nicholas Bailey as Major Metcalf and Susan Penhaligon as Mrs Boyle, with Emily Laing as Mollie Ralston, Jack Hardwick as Giles Ralston, Thomas Barrett as Christopher Wren, Clare Duffy as Miss Casewell, James Peake as Mr Paravicini and Alfie Richards as Detective Sergeant Trotter.
The set-up has lost none of its grip in seven decades: a murder in London, a remote guesthouse cut off by snow, seven strangers taking refuge, and a detective who arrives with a warning that the danger is already inside Monkswell Manor. Which of them is capable of murder is a secret audiences have famously kept since 1952.
The tour is directed by Hannah Chissick, with lighting design by Nic Farman, casting by Denise Silvey and Myles Brown as resident director. It is produced by Brian Fenty.
The anniversary comes on the back of a landmark year in the West End: the play passed its 30,000th performance and collected a Guinness World Records certificate for the longest theatrical run. It continues at London’s St Martin’s Theatre, now booking into its 75th year in 2027.
