Photo by Mark Senior The UK tour of Back to the Future The Musical has released its first production photos, with Roger Bart as Doc Brown and Axel Duffy as Marty McFly. The tour is at the Bristol Hippodrome until 21 November.

Mark Senior took the pictures, the first look at the touring staging since rehearsals. After Bristol the production heads to Edinburgh and Liverpool, and further dates follow into 2027.

Tony Award winner Roger Bart plays Doc Brown, opposite Australian actor Axel Duffy as Marty McFly. The pictures put the pair beside the DeLorean and in Doc’s cluttered workshop, and catch Duffy alone with the car in a rainstorm.

James Oliver plays George McFly and Danielle Rose is Lorraine Baines. Brandon Lee Sears doubles as Goldie Wilson and Marvin Berry, Toby Shellard is Biff Tannen and Tash Bacarese-Hamilton is Jennifer Parker. Rhys Owen (Strickland), Katrina Stenning (Linda McFly) and Blake Jordan (Dave McFly) round out the principals.

The ensemble is Chloe Bell, Nicole Carlisle, Tilly Ducker, Rebecca French, Tia Gyngell, Kai Harris, Katie Hutton, Keir Hylands, Arthur Janes, Stephen Lewis-Johnston, Zachary Miller, George Olney, Trézel Sergeant and Lashane Williams. Janes also plays Marty McFly at some performances.

Bart’s Doc Brown is confirmed for three stops. Those are the Bristol Hippodrome (8 October - 21 November 2026), the Edinburgh Playhouse (2 December 2026 - 2 January 2027) and the Liverpool Empire (12 January - 6 February 2027). Brian Conley takes over the role at Milton Keynes Theatre from 9-27 February 2027, and casting for Doc Brown beyond that has not yet been announced.

The tour follows five years in the West End, where the show played its last performance at the Adelphi Theatre on Sunday 12 April 2026. More than 2.3 million people saw it there, and it won Best New Musical at the Olivier, WhatsOnStage and BroadwayWorld Awards. Around the world it has now played to over 5.5 million people, after a Broadway run, a season in Sydney and a two-year North American tour, and it is currently running in Japan, in Germany and on Royal Caribbean cruise ships, with a French production still to come.

John Rando directs. Tim Hatley designs the set and costumes, Chris Bailey is choreographer and Chris Fisher creates the illusions, with lighting by Tim Lutkin and Hugh Vanstone, sound by Gareth Owen and video by Finn Ross. Nick Finlow supervises the music and wrote the arrangements, the orchestrations are by Ethan Popp and Bryan Crook, and David Chase did the dance arrangements. Casting is by David Grindrod CDG for Grindrod Burton Casting.

The full touring company was announced in September, and pictures from the rehearsal room followed a week later.
