Mike Bartlett’s An Intervention is back in a new production by Want the Moon Theatre, running at Riverside Studios from 11 January to 13 February 2027 with Adam Karim directing.
An Intervention runs at Riverside Studios from Monday 11 January to Saturday 13 February 2027. Press night is Monday 18 January. Want the Moon Theatre produces and Adam Karim directs.
The play premiered in Watford twelve years ago. This is a new staging. Mike Bartlett sets his two-hander in 2003, as Britain edges towards war in Iraq. Two close friends land on opposite sides of the argument. It soon stops being about politics and starts being about each other.
Karim casts both roles with Global Majority actors. The production looks again at personal and political responsibility, this time from the side of the communities most affected by Western military intervention.
Karim is a JMK Award winner and an Eastern Eye Best Director, and was nominated at The Stage Debut Awards in 2025. Want the Moon Theatre’s last production, Passing, sold out at the Park Theatre. Bartlett’s recent West End work includes Unicorn and Cock, and he created the BBC drama Doctor Foster.
The play runs at 90 minutes and is recommended for ages 12 and over. Tickets start at £15. It is part of the Riverside Studios winter season, which marks the venue’s 50th year.
