Adam Riches has two shows at Park Theatre in January 2027: The Captain, which won a Fringe First Award this year, and a six-performance return for Jimmy.
Adam Riches opens the 2027 Park200 programme at the Park Theatre with The Captain, which runs from 12-23 January 2027. The piece received a Fringe First Award in 2026. Riches is both its writer and its performer, and Tom Parry directs a co-production between Park Theatre and Tigco.
Its subject is Captain Matthew Webb, the first man to swim the English Channel. The play looks past the record itself to the man who set it, and to the nerve, endurance and peculiarity that came with him.
Over the same fortnight Riches revives Jimmy, for six performances only from 14-23 January 2027. The solo show sold out its previous run at the theatre in January 2026. Its subject is Jimmy Connors, the dominant player of 1974, who by 1991 was taking a beating at the US Open from the younger brother of his old rival, and who then turned back the clock for one more remarkable run.
Parry also directs Jimmy, which Tigco presents in association with Park Theatre. It is billed as a fast, funny and intensely physical piece, set inside the head of an ageing sportsman who has not lost his swagger.
Both shows were announced as part of Park Theatre's 2027 season, which also takes in a revival of Jez Butterworth's Mojo and the first play by Max & Ivan.
