Key art for Zoo Co's Three Men On A Billboard: two performers lean on a blank red billboard against a yellow sky, with three tiny figures standing on the gantry below Tickets are £21.50 for Zoo Co's Three Men On A Billboard, which runs in The Pit at the Barbican from Monday 8 to Saturday 13 February 2027 and is live-directed from audience suggestions every night.

Standard tickets are £21.50 for Three Men On A Billboard, which Zoo Co bring to The Pit at the Barbican from Monday 8 to Saturday 13 February 2027. Young Barbican tickets, for 16- to 29-year-olds, are £10, and access tickets are £11.50 with a free essential companion seat where one is needed. The show runs 1 hour 30 minutes.

The story it works from is real and American. In 1982, with the economy in trouble, a small-town radio station offered a mobile home to whichever contestant could stay longest on a 30-foot billboard beside a motorway. Three men took it on. The station had a few weeks in mind; they stayed for 261 days, and a marketing wheeze became one of the strangest media sensations the country had produced.

Flo O’Mahony and Fleur Rooth, who founded Zoo Co, direct it, and they do so from the stage, in front of the audience, each night. Nothing is fixed: the direction responds to suggestions offered by the people watching, which the Barbican stresses is voluntary and handled by an experienced team. Writer Jackson Used created the show with the company and wrote the text. As the billboard story plays out, the pair's own ten-year working partnership gets drawn into it, which is where the piece finds its second subject — what it costs to build something with somebody else and keep it standing.

This is the company's follow-up to Perfect Show for Rachel, which collected a shelf of awards. The access provision is unusually thorough and unusually simple: BSL is built into every performance, every performance is relaxed, and there is integrated creative access for Deaf and blind or visually impaired audiences, with full details to be confirmed.

It is guided at 14+. The Barbican notes adult themes, mild references to sex and drugs, and some strong language.

The Barbican presents, and Zoo Co has backing from Arts Council England, the Cockayne Foundation, the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and the Garfield Weston Foundation. Three Men On A Billboard is one of nine events in the Barbican's spring 2027 theatre and dance season.
