Three of the co-stars who surrounded Rachel Zegler at the London Palladium will go with her to Broadway when Jamie Lloyd’s Evita opens at the Winter Garden Theatre next spring.
The company London watched all last summer is largely staying together. Producers Jamie Lloyd and Michael Harrison have named the principals who will stand alongside Rachel Zegler when their Evita reaches Broadway, and three of them come straight from the London Palladium.
Diego Rodriguez, nominated for an Olivier Award for his Che in London, keeps the part. James Olivas stays as Juan Perón, and it will be his Broadway debut. Bella Brown, a WhatsOnStage Award nominee for The Mistress and the alternate Eva Perón at the Palladium, transfers in both of those jobs: she plays The Mistress and will take Eva at certain performances through the run.
Ángel Lozada joins the production as Agustín Magaldi. Two more Palladium names are in the Broadway ensemble: Natasha Leaver and Mireia Mambo, both of whom were in the original West End company.
They are joined in the ensemble by Giuseppe Bausilio, Mely Berdion, Brandon Borkowsky, Ayla Ciccone-Burton, Grace Conrad, Christian Jesús Galvis, Tommy Gedrich, Sydney Jones, Maggie Likcani, Sebastian Martinez, Justice Moore, Pepe Muñoz, Julio Rey, Ken San Jose, Victor Carrillo Tracey, Damani Van Rensalier and J’Kobe Wallace. The swings are Alexis Hasbrouck, AK Naderer, Regine Sophia, Francisco Thurston, Bryce Valle and Michael Bryan Wang.
The full creative team, and the casting of The Child, are still to be announced. Evita begins previews at the Winter Garden Theatre on Saturday 27 February 2027 and opens on Thursday 25 March 2027, with tickets on sale now. It moves in behind Lloyd’s Much Ado About Nothing, which takes a strictly limited ten-week booking at the same theatre from Saturday 31 October.
The producing line-up is the London one. Jamie Lloyd produces for The Jamie Lloyd Company and Michael Harrison for Lloyd Webber Harrison Musicals, by arrangement with LW Entertainment, with 101 Productions, Ltd. / Jeff Klein as general managers.
New York is buying a show London has already graded. Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical played a sold-out engagement at the Palladium last summer and took two Olivier Awards, including Best Actress in a Musical for Zegler. It was named Best Musical at the London Standard Theatre Awards, where Zegler won Best Musical Performance, and it collected five WhatsOnStage Awards among them Best Musical Revival and Best Performer in a Musical. The Standard called Zegler “an absolute smash in Jamie Lloyd’s thrilling revival”, and Zegler’s final performance drew a nine-minute standing ovation — the longest in the Palladium’s history.
Lloyd first staged Evita at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre in 2019. The Palladium revival was a different animal, and the image that defined it was a London one: Zegler singing Don’t Cry For Me Argentina from the theatre’s balcony to a free crowd on Argyll Street while the paying audience watched it on screen.
There is nothing to book here: the Palladium run has closed and no further London dates have been announced. What is still available is the full-length London cast recording, with Zegler’s Don’t Cry For Me Argentina that topped the Official UK Physical Singles Chart three times — we covered its release in August.
