Sheffield Theatres has released the first rehearsal images for Twelfth Night, with Mathew Horne as Malvolio and Jamie Glover directing. The production opens at the Crucible on Saturday 10 October 2026.
Sheffield Theatres has published the first pictures from the rehearsal room for Twelfth Night, which completes the Crucible’s Shakespeare season this autumn. They were taken by Manuel Harlan.
Mathew Horne plays Malvolio and Jamie Glover directs. The production runs at the Crucible in Sheffield from Saturday 10 to Saturday 31 October 2026, and press night is Friday 16 October.
The company is the one that has just finished King Lear in the same theatre, directed by Titas Halder with Ian McDiarmid in the title role. Every actor appears in both plays, which is why the two were announced as a single season rather than as two separate runs.
Alongside Horne, the company is David Birrell as Feste, James Chetwood as Sir Andrew Aguecheek, Mark Holgate as Antonio, Christopher Jordan as Valentine and Second Officer, Justina Kehinde as Olivia, Hazel Monaghan as actor-musician, Harry Redding as Sebastian, Max Revell as Curio, Jay Saighal as Fabian, Bebe Sanders as Viola, Sachin K Sharma as Sea Captain and First Officer, Fode Simbo as Orsino, Milo Twomey as Sir Toby Belch and Katie Wimpenny as Maria.
Glover’s creative team is set and costume designer Amanda Stoodley, lighting designer Richard Howell, composer and musical director Genevieve Dawson, sound designer Raffaela Pancucci, movement director Charlotte Broom and casting director Matilda James, with Vicky Moran as associate director, Barbara Houseman as voice and text coach and Marc Small as assistant director.
Four access performances are scheduled: a captioned performance on Thursday 22 October at 7.15pm, a relaxed performance on Wednesday 28 October at 2pm, a signed performance on Friday 30 October at 7.15pm and an audio described performance on Saturday 31 October at 2pm. Tickets are on sale through Sheffield Theatres.
