The Lord of the Rings is going back on the road. A new production of the musical, The Lord of the Rings - The Epic Stage Adventure, will have its world premiere at the Zorlu Performing Arts Center in Istanbul in October 2027, before touring Europe and the Middle East.
The new staging of The Lord of the Rings opens at the Zorlu Performing Arts Center in Istanbul in October 2027, the first stop on a tour of Europe and the Middle East. It is billed as The Epic Stage Adventure, and it comes from Kevin Wallace's company, Kevin Wallace Ltd, which produces the show under licence from Middle-earth Enterprises.
Ten cities have been named so far: Istanbul, Bucharest, Sofia, Prague, Warsaw, Thessaloniki, Athens, Tallinn, Zagreb and Dubai, with more to be announced. Beyond the Istanbul premiere in October 2027, no dates or on-sale times have been published for any of them yet.
For readers here, the more interesting line on the production's official site is a separate UK and Ireland tour, which it lists as to be announced soon. No venues or dates have been given. Across the Atlantic, the show also has a North American run booked at the Hale Centre Theatre in Utah from 15 February to 17 April 2027.
The musical is an adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's trilogy, and London has seen it before. Kevin Wallace's original large-scale production opened at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane in 2007, and a later, more intimate version, The Lord of the Rings - A Musical Tale, has since toured as far as Australia and New Zealand.
Registration for ticket news, city by city, is open on the official Lord of the Rings musical website.
