Photo by Victoria Davies Production photographs have been released for the UK premiere of Jane Eyre, the John Caird and Paul Gordon musical now running at Southwark Playhouse Elephant until 24 October 2026, with Charlie Burn as Jane and Ashley Gilmour as Rochester.

The first production photographs of Jane Eyre have been released, three weeks into its UK premiere run at the Southwark Playhouse Elephant. They are by Victoria Davies.

Charlie Burn plays Jane and Ashley Gilmour is Rochester. The company is completed by Claire Greenway as Abbot and Grace Poole, Melad Hamidi as St John and Lord Ingram, Connor Wood as John Reed and the Vicar, Jonathan Andrew Hume as Brocklehurst and Mason, Izzi Levine as Agnes, Leah, Jane’s Mother and Mary Ingram, Hannah Lindsey as Scatcherd and Bertha Mason, Isabelle Methven as Helen Burns and Bessie, Gemma Page as Reed and Fairfax and Eve Shanu-Wilson as Blanche and Sophie, with Poppy Jason and Emily-Rose Samuel sharing Young Jane and Adele.

The musical is by John Caird and Paul Gordon, adapted from Charlotte Brontë’s novel. Caird co-directs with Broadway’s Megan McGinnis. It is a pairing with some history behind it: Caird adapted and co-directed the original West End and Broadway production of Les Misérables, and most recently directed Spirited Away at the London Coliseum, while McGinnis has appeared in Beauty and the Beast, Little Women and Beetlejuice.

Georgina Lamb choreographs, with set and costume design by Morgan Large, sound design by Andrew Johnson, lighting design by James Whiteside, musical direction and supervision by Ben Kubiak and casting by Sarah-Jane Price.

This staging arrives with a record behind it. The musical premiered in Toronto in 1996 and reached Broadway in 2000, where it took five Tony nominations, and Adam Blanshay Productions has partnered with the original Canadian producers, David and Hannah Mirvish, for the show’s 30th anniversary year. This is its first UK production.

A cast EP, Highlights From The UK Premiere Cast, is out on the usual streaming services, and the video for Sirens is below.
