Disco Dracula, a vampire musical comedy, gets its world premiere at Bristol Old Vic

Disco Dracula key art for the world premiere at Bristol Old Vic Disco Dracula, a new musical comedy with vampires on the dance floor, will have its world premiere at Bristol Old Vic, running 27 May - 19 June 2027 under director Robyn Grant.

A night out goes very wrong in Disco Dracula. The new musical comedy has its world premiere at Bristol Old Vic, 27 May - 19 June 2027, co-produced by the theatre and Disco Dracula Productions.

The couple at its centre, John and Mina, are bored with each other. All they wanted was an ordinary evening. Instead they get drawn into a vampire lair with a disco floor, strong drinks and a Count looking to cast parts that last forever. As Dracula and his Brides turn on the charm, the question is whether a pair who struggle to get through date night can survive an encounter with the Lord of Darkness.

The score is original disco. The show also promises jump scares, conga lines and audience participation, and carries an age guidance of 16+.

Charlie O'Connor wrote the music and co-wrote the book and lyrics with Alena Henke. O'Connor's credits include the Off-Broadway comedy Pepper Slit and FX's Adults.

Director Robyn Grant is known for the cult musical comedy Unfortunate and Mischief Theatre's Thespians. Grant has also been associate director on 2:22 A Ghost Story in the West End, Sweeney Todd at Birmingham Rep and The Hunger Games: On Stage.

It comes from the producers behind Derren Brown and Peep Show, whose work has won multiple Olivier and BAFTA awards.

Tickets start at £11 and go on general sale at 12 noon on Wednesday 14 October 2026. Disco Dracula is among the headline productions of Bristol Old Vic's 2027 season, together with Uncle Vanya and the 40th anniversary revival of Leave Taking.
