Are You Even Indian?, a love story between a British-born Indian woman and an Indian-born man, will run at Riverside Studios from 17 to 29 November 2026.
Are You Even Indian? will run at Riverside Studios from Tuesday 17 to Sunday 29 November 2026. Press night is Tuesday 24 November.
The play follows a British-born Indian woman and an Indian-born man who fall in love. At first it goes to plan: a meet-cute, wedding dances, Bollywood jokes and a shared future mapped out.
Harder questions follow. The couple must settle which country counts as home, what language their child will speak and who gets to decide what makes someone truly Indian. Family expectations and outside labels press on both of them, and the story turns on love, compromise and life between two cultures.
The production won Best Show at the Riverside Studios Bitesize Festival in 2025. At Brighton Fringe 2026 it was highly recommended and shortlisted for Best New Writing.
It runs for 60 minutes and is recommended for ages 14 and over. Tickets start at £12. It is part of the Riverside Studios winter season.
