The open-air musical that premiered at Hever Castle in August 2025 now has a London address. Anne Boleyn: The Musical runs at the Old Royal Naval College, Greenwich, from Saturday 8 May to Saturday 5 June 2027, with press night on Wednesday 12 May. Tickets are on sale now, priced from £15.33.

The location is the hook. The college grounds sit on the site of the Palace of Placentia, the Tudor palace at Greenwich where Anne gave birth to the future Elizabeth I. Hever, where the show began, was her childhood home, and the production played there to a purpose-built outdoor auditorium of 1,800 seats.

Greenwich gets a similar build: a temporary auditorium in the grounds, open-air in feel but fully roofed, so the weather stays out and the historic buildings stay in view. The staging promises live horses, immersive audio, full period costume and an original score.

The Hever creative team returns. Roxana Silbert directs. Rebecca Night wrote the book and shares the lyrics with Sam Kenyon, and Selma Greenwood composed the music. Her score for the original staging was recorded by the City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra.

The story follows Anne from her youth at the royal courts of Europe to her return to England and her rise to the throne, then to the political plot that brought her down. The show presents her as a reformer with her own ideas about what women could do, up against a court of men set on deciding her future. Its tagline sums up the pitch: “You know the Queen. Now meet the Woman.”

Producer Simon de Merode said: “Following the extraordinary experience of bringing Anne Boleyn’s story to life at Hever Castle, we are thrilled to bring the musical to London in 2027. The Old Royal Naval College stands on the site of Greenwich Palace, where Anne gave birth to the future Elizabeth I. Bringing her story to a place so closely connected to her life makes this next chapter particularly meaningful.”

Silbert added: “Anne was an intelligent, ambitious and complex woman who challenged the expectations of her time, and we want audiences to discover the woman behind the history.”

The producers are Historalia Productions and Selladoor Worldwide. Historalia was set up in Belgium ten years ago by the Merode siblings and stages large-scale musicals in historic castles, with local people involved on stage and behind it: Jeanne d’Arc (Westerlo Castle, 2024), Marie-Antoinette (Wynendale Castle, 2023) and 1830 (Westerlo Castle, 2021). Selladoor, founded by David Hutchinson in 2009, started out in Greenwich. Casting and the rest of the creative team are still to be announced.
