The Truth description

Love a razor sharp marital comedy stacked with stars? The Truth is for you.

The Olivier-nominated play The Truth is packed full of stars. We have TV presenter and comedian Stephen Mangan (The Split, Episodes) Ardal O'Hanlon, Sarah Hadland and Janie Dee, all due to set this West End revival of Florian Zeller's (The Father, The Mother, The Son) provocative comic farce alight. A major production in town for a limited run, it's on stage in London for the first time since 2016's season at Wyndham's Theatre.

This witty translation of the original play is Directed by West End legend Lindsay Posner (A View From the Bridge), and adapted by Christopher Hampton who gave us Les Liaisons Dangereuses. Expect the same quality of drama as the original production, which completely sold out at the Menier Chocolate Factory.

The plot goes like this. We meet two couples who have dark secrets. There's also a horrid truth none of them want to face up to. The ensuing comedy reveals the fragility of trust, the negotiable nature of loyalty, and the fact that almost all of us have something to hide. Expect a masterwork in deception, a gripping plot, and a hilariously funny experience from start to finish.

Stephen Mangan was last on the London stage in Mike Bartlett's Unicorn, an acclaimed production. Comedy genius Ardal O'Hanlon made audiences cry with laughter in TV's Father Ted and My Hero as well as delighting us in the extraordinary How To Get To Heaven From Belfast. Sarah Hadland is known for her brilliant work on Miranda, Strictly Come Dancing, and The Job Lot. And Janie Dee didn't just play an outstanding role in Follies, she also won two Oliviers for it. This brand new West End treat is produced by Simon Friend and Hanna Osmolska for Melting Pot, in association with Gavin Kalin Productions and Fiery Dragons.

Electrifying comedy awaits you with The Truth tickets, a play packed with deep insight, laced with sharp humour and rich in the politics of relationships. Walk this way to explore the nature of affairs, the limits of friendship, and how destructive total honesty can be.
